President's Message from Brett Lieberman

Dear Members of the Maryland State Pest Control Association,

It is both an honor and an exciting challenge to step into the role of President of the Maryland State Pest Control Association. As Kevin Poland transitions to his new opportunity in Florida, I want to begin by expressing our heartfelt gratitude for his outstanding leadership and dedication to our association and industry. Kevin has always welcomed calls, texts and emails seeking advice, and I know I will continue to call him. Kevin's vision and commitment have strengthened MSPCA tremendously, and we wish him continued success in his new chapter.

As I take on this responsibility, I am energized by the talent, dedication and generosity I have seen within our organization and our industry. In fact, I have benefited so much personally from this generosity of others. Whether it’s a question about an HR issue or a pest treatment, members of our industry have always been supportive.

I encourage each of you to reach out to me directly with your ideas, concerns, or suggestions. Your input is invaluable as we work to ensure MSPCA continues to provide meaningful value to every member. Whether you're a seasoned professional or new to the industry, your perspective matters, and I want to hear from you.

This is also a perfect time to get more involved with our association. Volunteer for committees, attend our events, share your expertise with fellow members, or simply engage more actively in our networking opportunities. The connections and relationships you build through MSPCA are often the foundation for both personal and professional growth.

Speaking of valuable resources, be sure to check out this issue's excellent article on Asian Cockroach identification and treatment—practical knowledge that can make a real difference in your daily operations.

I'm particularly excited to promote our upcoming Business Building Blocks & Connections event on September 16. This comprehensive program is designed for everyone on your team—owners, managers, sales representatives, and customer service staff. With focused sessions on leadership development, marketing integration, practical use of AI, and fleet management, this event promises to deliver actionable strategies that can immediately impact your business performance. The day includes networking opportunities over coffee and lunch, plus a members' happy hour at Hudson Coastal in Fulton starting at 4:30 PM. Don't miss this chance to invest in your team's development while connecting with fellow professionals who understand your challenges.

I look forward to working with each of you to make this year one of growth, innovation, and continued success for MSPCA.

Warm regards,
Brett Lieberman
